My Dad

Dad you mean the world to me you are my shining star
You’ve sheltered me, looked after me and helped me come this far
My whole life I’ve looked up to you, you’ve been my guiding light
You’ve always loved and supported me even when I’ve not been right

I may not always tell you how much you mean to me
But dad you are my oldest dearest bestest friend you see
I know I’m all grown now and our lives have moved apart
But dad you are so dear to me you’re always in my heart

You are my inspiration through the good times and the bad
When you were diagnosed with diabetes it made me feel so sad
But you take it in your stride your strength is oh so loud
And dad I want to tell you that I’m so very very proud

I’m glad that you’ve found happiness with your lovely wife
I know that you will have a very happy content life
So all I want to say to you is thanks for being you
For loving me for who I am and to say I love you too
