Guest Poems Single Guy I like being alone, I lied
As I sat fat in front of the TV and cried
out the answers to my least favourite game show.
Lucky it's not the partners edition
which would put me in a most awful position
sat stupid, an empty chair at my elbow.
I like being alone, I lied
struggling with peas and potatoes, I try
to make enough...just for one.
Then a TV comedy puts me back among 'Friends'
yet so quickly that comfort disappears at the end -
Laughing alone is less fun!
I like being alone, I lied
Alone, I sit, working out how to tie
the intricate knot on page four.
No note to say I liked being alone,
no horror to find when no-one gets home,
just the smell coming under the door.
But Hey! I'm alone no more.
I liked being alone, I lie.
